Va Beach- Wanda L. Green entered into eternal rest on Monday; April 10, 2023. Wanda LoReese Upton-Green was born August 18, 1963 to Carlton Upton Sr. and Constance Lorraine Upton in Norfolk, Virginia. The first of two children, Wanda, graduated in 1981 from Oscar Smith High School. Wanda pursued higher education at Norfolk State University where she received her Bachelor of Business Management degree in 1986.
At an early age Wanda had a passion for singing the gospel and devoted her life to Christ as her Lord and Savior. God graced her with a gift and she used it to glorify him. For a number of years, she has been a faithful member of Gethsemane Community Fellowship. A few notable gospel choirs include: Amos Davis and the Angelic Choraleers, Upton Family Concert Singers, As We Are, and various other groups throughout the community. Wanda won many awards for her singing talent over the years.

Wanda dedicated 33 years of service as a program specialist at the Norfolk Redevelopment & Housing Authority. She had a strong sense of purpose and she was dedicated to the people in the Norfolk community. Wanda has always been passionate about children which led her to open Young Minds on the Rise Preschool from 2005 to 2009. Many of her prior students have blossomed into successful young adults and are currently pursuing higher education.

Wanda was a sweet, loving, caring person and brought joy to many people’s lives. She had a kind heart and was a phenomenal mother, daughter, sister, niece, and friend. She lived a life that was pleasing to the Lord. Wanda took her eternal rest on April 10, 2023, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Herbert Todd, Alice Todd, and Virginia Griffin Ward. Her precious memory will always remain with her loving family.
She leaves to cherish her memories forever: two sons: Reuben Clarke, IV of Miami, FL and Marcus J. Clarke of Virginia Beach, VA; parents, Bishop Carlton R. Upton, Sr. and Constance L. Upton of Chesapeake, VA; brother, Carlton R. Upton, Jr. (CJ) of Norfolk, VA; nephew, Cameron Upton; nieces, Lauren Upton and Brooke Upton; aunt, Barbara U. Walker (Bill); uncle, Cecil Upton (Francine), and a host of other relatives and friends

A funeral will take place 10:00am Saturday; April 15, 2023 at Gethsemane Community Fellowship Baptist Church; 1317 E Brambleton Ave.; Norfolk, VA 23504. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens; Norfolk, VA. There will be no public viewing. Please continue to keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.
