My deepest condolences to the family, whom I dearly love. To me Mr. Walt is a kind, funny soul, and a straight shooter. We spoke often over the years and he offered some good advice. Walt and I served in the Navy from 1986 to 1990, he was a terrific shipmate and friend. He was the consummate professional and mentor as a Navy Chief. Walt was a great friend to me and others during our time together in Norfolk. Some of the best times of my life were shared with him as young Sailors. Sheila and the Willis family I wish you all the very best. Walt, Fair Winds and Following Seas Shipmate.

I served in the Navy with Walt. He was a kind man with a gift for relating to people from all walks of life. I loved his sense of humor and the way he could bring calm to the most difficult of situations. I learned a ton from him. Travel safe friend.

You always checked on me, even when you were going through your own rough times. I admire the loving friend and provider you were as a husband to Ma Sheila and the doting grandfather you were. However, the greatest gift you gave me was seeing the love you had for Mitra. 💕I know you had a deep love for Brandy, but the way you cherished and adored your daughter was priceless. 🫶🏾 You still owe me a dance and I'll be wearing my gold bracelet when we meet again. Farewell to a strong gentleman who never gave up the fight. He will be missed. Walt was a great coworker and made everyday fun for fellow staff at Nauticus and Battleship Wisconsin. Walt was an eloquent writer and witty conversationalist. It was an honor to know him. My heartfelt sympathies to his family and friends.

Dear Sister, Nephew, Nieces--Words cannot express how much I loved my brother and will forever keep him in my heart. He will be missed by us all. Remember his laugh, his smile, the way he walked, his favorite cologne-I can go on & on. He is in heaven with our Mom now and I know he's happy there. I Love You Walter!!

It has taken me a moment to realize that you are no longer here. I caught myself the other day about to send you a text. How wild would that had been if you responded! I miss the advice you would give & I definitely miss our conversations about politics. I use to tell you not to fret & how GOD wasn't ready for you with your loud talking & even louder laugh. But I find solace in knowing you are no longer in pain & knowing you did not fear death. You are loved & missed😔 To the family I am sorry for your loss and sending you lots of love and prayers ❤️

Words can't express how much you mean to me Unc! Not only are you super cool, you are super funny! I would be laughing hysterically from some of the things you said lol! We would talk about sports and various subjects about life in general! You have always been an inspiration to me since I was a kid! You've had alot of your accomplishments in the Navy as well as living overseas! I do remember that black Saab when I was a kid, I loved that car and you was the first one with it! I want to share a memory I have of pop Walt (that's what I've called you since I was a child). My 1st trip to Richmond was with you and I'll never forget riding the public bus for the 1st time. Spending that time with you, Mitra and the family was some of my best childhood memories. Thank you for always being a 2nd father figure to me growing up. You will be truly missed by so many. To my sis Mitra, mama Shelia and big bro Brandy my prayers and love are with you during this time. I love you ❤️

Walt will truly be missed, he was a blessing to all he had the pleasure of meeting even when he was loud and bossy you always knew he had you back! My sincere condolences to Shelia and your kids. I rest easy knowing he lived life to the fullest and it was time to go be a soldier for Jesus. His work here was done!
