On Saturday January 20, 2024, our Heavenly Father called home Roosevelt Lewis (Blue).
Roosevelt was born June 11, 1947, in Williamson, West Virginia to the late Joe Lewis and Alberta Lewis. Roosevelt graduated from Crestwood High School in 1965 in Chesapeake, Virginia. After high school he served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was employed by Weaver Inc. and Lewis Cable Company as a Skilled Forman for underground cable installation and operating heavy equipment. He took pride in his work.
Roosevelt accepted Christ in 1990 at First Baptist Crestwood where he was active in the male chorus, other choirs and served as a doorkeeper. Roosevelt loved people and could talk for hours with family, friends, and neighbors. He and wife Doris enjoyed vacations and he loved his Redskins.
Roosevelt was predeceased by fours brothers: Joe, William, John, and James. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Doris of 25 years, daughter Michele, son Alonzo, and grandchildren three brothers: Alivin Lorenzo, Dewayne and sister Shirley of the home; three sister in laws: Kim, Margie and Deborah; three step sons: Sherman (Annette), Milton (Benita) and Dwayne (Janice) and children and ex-wife Queenie.
In addition there are people he considered “Big Brothers” such as Bishop Rogers, Steptoe brothers, Marvin Lawerence, Willie Gibbs, Tom Futrell and Bobby Lewis and Family. Good neighbors Goodman, Madisons, Kerry, Holmes, McCourtney and Haynes families. His dog “Little Rock Rock”. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He will be missed by his loved ones who celebrate the fact that he is at peace and out of pain.
A funeral service will take place 11:00am Saturday; January 27, 2024 at First Baptist Church Crestwood; 4701 Bainbridge Boulevard; Chesapeake,VA 23320. Visitation will take place from 4-6pm Friday; January 26, 2024 at Fitchett-Mann Funeral Services; 1146 Rodgers St., Chesapeake, VA 23324.
