Portsmouth-Peggy Joyce Milton was born January 20, 1949 in Portsmouth, Virginia and was called home by the Almighty God on September 25, 2019. Peggy was one of ten children born to the late Eugene L. &
Bertha A. Milton, Sr. and became the matriarch to her younger family members after the death of their
mother.
Peggy graduated from I.C. Norcom High School and further her studies in Nursing and the Culinary Arts
(baking and pastries). She was a traveler who lived in New York City and Kalamazoo, Michigan for several years. She left the United States and relocated to the Caribbean Island of Barbados, where she married a native Barbadian.
Peggy was a healer who nursed her nephew to health and help many homeless people with food and
shelter. She enjoyed cooking for family, crocheting, traveling and listening to the words of Minister Farrakhan. She worked for different cuisine restaurants and was self-employed selling her delicious pastries. She also worked for the Portsmouth Public School System.
Preceding Peggy in death was her parents Bertha A. Milton and Eugene L. Milton, Sr., two sisters: Linda
Ross; and one brother, Larry Milton.
She leaves three daughters and two grandchildren to cherish her from the heart. Bervon Milton of
Phoenix, Arizona; Khadijah Milton (Adren and Shakira) of Portsmouth, Virginia; and Gee Gee Milton of Portsmouth, Virginia. She also leaves two sisters who cherish deep memories: Darlene Muhammad and Evon Muhammad of Phoenix, Arizona; four brothers who knew her kindness: Eugene Milton, Jr. (Alice); Melvin Milton of Portsmouth, Virginia; Jerry Milton of Bowie, Maryland and Reginald Milton (Elaine) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
Special thanks to her friend, Mr. Rodney Mitchell and her nephew and niece, Mr. Eugene Milton, III and
his wife Monique who gave her unconditional kindness and support to the end. And most of all, we give our deepest thanks to her daughter, Gee Gee who was at her every "beck and call" for the last year.
We pray that Almighty God blesses her and her unmatched kindness to live on through all those who
love and cherish her.
A funeral service will be held Friday; October 4, 2019 at Fitchett-Mann Funeral Services; 1146 Rodgers Street; Chesapeake, VA 23324. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Cemetery; Suffolk, VA
