Obituaries

Chesapeake- On Sunday, January 19, 2025, God called our beloved mother, Gloston Winfield, at the age of 87, to her heavenly home. Mrs. Winfield was born on November 6, 1937, in Princess Anne County to the late Lousanna and Hardy Sneed.

She was united in marriage to Joseph Henry Winfield, and together they were blessed with eight children. Her family grew to include 18 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Winfield dedicated over 30 years of her life to the Virginia Beach School System. She was known for her kind and loving heart, and she brought joy to everyone she encountered. She had a generous spirit and rarely said no to anyone in need.

She is now reunited in heaven with her husband, Joseph; her sons, Jessie and Joseph Jr. (“Honey Bee”); her daughter, Grace Ann; her parents; two sisters; three brothers; and many other cherished family members.

Left to celebrate her memory are her five daughters: Debra Land, Denise Toliver, Chandra Rivera (Carmelo), Jeanette Mosby (Reginald),Missila Winfield and her loving daughter-in-law Annette Sneed. She is also survived by her two sisters, Joyce Harrison and Gladys Wilder; two brothers, Norris Sneed (Marjorie) and Lawrence Sneed (Ernestine); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Mrs. Winfield will be truly missed, and her memory will forever live in our hearts.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday; January 29, 2025 at Fitchett-Mann Funeral Services; 1146 Rodgers Street; Chesapeake, VA 23324. Viewing will be 4-6pm Tuesday. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery; Norfolk, VA.
