Obituaries

Chesapeake- Desmond Lamar Sloan received his wings and went to tbe with the Lord on Wednesday; April 26, 2023. He was born in New Bern, NC on December 30, 1985 to Elrida V. Carriglitto (Sloan) and Joseph A. Sloan.

Desmond graduated from Granby High School in 2004. He was a skilled tradesman in sheet metal and abestos under Union Local 24. He loved basketball and riding motorcycles. Desmond was a man who loved his daughter and family wholeheartedly. He was a dedicated father, loving son and a friend to all. We are going to celebrate his life because he was "Bigger" than life and he lived it to the "fullest."

He is survived by his parents, Elrida V. Carriglitto (Lawrence aka "Pops") and Joseph A. Sloan (Janeen); his first love, Patrice Miller; his daughter, Arielle Aaliyah Sloan; stepson, Cameron McCoy; brother, Dante Carriglitto; sisters: Asia Sloan, Ayahna Sloan and Antoinette King; aunts: Antoinette Parker, Altanell Parker, Tamara Wilson, Jennifer Hagans, Trina Allen, and Faith Sloan; uncles: Tyrone Wilson, Asa Parker, Anthony Parker, Johnie Davis, Donnell Davis, and Donald Wilson; special friends; Jeanay Bullock, Danielle Bullock-Mowoh, Dominique Wilson, Ivy McCall, Caleb Parker, Anthony Parker III, Kisha and Mike Tory, AJ Wynn, Reese, Cedric Foard, William Johnson, Christohper Terrell, Toronto McCall, Reginald Royals, Derek De la paz, "Light", Christopher Wilson, Christopher Singletary, Christopher Etheridge; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and freinds.

A funeral service will take place 1:00pm Thursday; May 11, 2023 at Cathedral of Faith COGIC; 2020 Portlock Rd; Chesapeake. VA 23324. Visitation will take place Wednesday; May 10, 2023 from 4-6pm at Fitchett-Mann Funeral Services.
