~ Derron’s Story ~
Norfolk-Derron Omar Williams Jr. was called home by the Lord on Friday; November 24, 2023. He was a
son, a brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to all that encountered his adventurous personality. For those who knew him best would address him as “Rondo” or “Lil Ron.” Derron was born on March 27, 2000 in Norfolk, VA to Evonne Laverne Foreman and was the eldest son of Derron Omar Williams, Sr. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Dennis Earl Taylor; and sister, Jakya Edwards.
Derron grew up in the Norfolk and attended
Granby High School and later transferred to Maury High School to continue his high school journey. After attending high school, Derron completed trade school with a certification in the plumbing and engineering program. He loved cooking, dancing, rapping, boxing, wrestling, and spending time with his kids. Traveling the world was Derron’s biggest goal and to become a chef. Most importantly he loved being around his kids, Keene Kyron William, Desire Renee Williams and his soon to be son, Malachi Derron Omar Williams, and his family.
Derron has played the role of a brother figure to his peers and as a big brother of the Alpha Omega
Ministry at Gethsemane Community Fellowship church where he was an active member. He previously served in the youth ministry, mime ministry, youth and young adult choir, and Alpha Omega Ministry.
Derron would spend most of his days in the studio with his best friend Antonio Green, his uncle, and cousins as they worked diligently towards being acknowledged as rappers in the rap industry. program. He had a big heart for family and a major heart for making a difference in the world around him. He didn’t take no for answer and always pushed to be acknowledged as an individual. It wasn’t uncommon to find him in the kitchen or on the grill during Thanksgiving, Christmas, or birthday party events. Cooking up a meal or catering to feed
his family and friends was something that was really fulfilling to him. He cherished every family gathering, laughter, life lessons, traveling, sports outings, motivation and encouragement from his godfather, also known as “Pops,” Frederick Smith.
Derron never missed an opportunity to smile or have fun. He would be the first to tell a joke, or burst into a random dance. His wit was a reflex adopted from an earlier childhood relationship that he had with a family friend named Kevin Keene. Not a day
would go by without Derron encouraging his siblings, children, and loved ones. His motto was “everything will be good, just do your best in life.” He took a lot of pride in family.
Outside of traveling and family, Derron enjoyed working with his Pizza Hut family of Chesapeake, VA. He always found a way to work in someone’s restaurant kitchen, while being the life of the party. Derron remained loyal and protective of his kids,
family, and friends throughout his life.
Derron leaves his sibling; Kenya Mitchell, Takeya Devenport, Danyasia, Ka’Ron, Dairron,
Dearion, Dayvion, and Jenaiah Williams, Grandparents Sharon Denise Williams, Yvonne
Gearing and Paul Calhoun; along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to cherish his loving memories.
In gratitude and humility, we thank God for blessing us with Derron and bow in submission to the will of Lord our God.
A funeral service will take place 2:00pm Monday; December 4, 2023 at Gethsemane Fellowship Baptist Church; 1317 E Brambleton Ave.; Norfolk, VA 23504. Please continue to pray for the family
